Fake Boursin

Posted on August 4, 2012 with 1 comment

But I am WAY too cheap to shell out the $$ they charge for one of those tiny little wheels... SO... Go to your favorite store, or cheese shop, and buy some natural cream cheese...  (Yes, you can use Philly, but I think it's a little too "firm.")

Take some good dried (and I assume you dried your own when the weather turned cold... didn't you??) thyme, sage, oregano. etc.  Rub it vigorously until it's pretty powdered... chop and mash a small amount of garlic - really just a little bit - it gets stronger as it sits... with a bit of salt and pepper.  Combine the garlic, herbs, and cream cheese... et voilà... fake boursin.

Let it sit if you can stand it... if not, go right ahead and eat.  Make this a few times and you'll figure out your own herb combo, salt and pepper level, etc.

8-9 ounces of this costs less than $3... I'm just sayin'...
